FFwD: Goat Cheese & Strawberry Tartine

French Fridays with Dorie: Goat Cheese & Strawberry Tartine

Wow, this French Fridays with Dorie was really good! And just like last week’s recipe, it is super, super simple. In fact, I don’t think I’m giving too much away if I type out: slice a baguette, toast it, spread it with goat cheese, top with sliced strawberries, give it a few grinds of black pepper, and then drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Done!

And I should probably mention that the strawberries are from our garden!

The only change I made was that I used slices of biscuit, as I didn’t have any baguette. It kind of ended up as an almost-savory, grown up, strawberry shortcake-type thing. Mmm!

Okay, here’s a link to everyone’s posts and my photos below.

  1. Oh, those biscuits look perfect with this! Now, I’m craving them with this and for strawberry shortcake, too.
My one surviving strawberry plant (crows, don’t ask) has a lot of work ahead of it…

  2. Biscuits! But of course! I had these for breakfast this AM but ON biscuits would be worth having again tomorrow! What about on Dorie’s onion biscuits?

  3. Serious extra credit points for growing your own strawberries 🙂 Love the idea of a biscuit/shortcake version and I agree with naming it a more grownup version. Sophisticated indeed- yet crazy quick and easy. And that opening photo is stunning – great job !

  4. I absolutely love the idea of your savory shortcake version of tartines. I’m jealous that your strawberries are in. We’re still waiting here. Nice one!

  5. I actually didnt get any strawberries out of my garden this year, … hmmm…. well your tartines look fantastic!
